I just started a course on illustrating for picture books. The first exercise was to fill a page with faces. We had ten minutes to do this, and as the clock ticked away, the last few faces were drawn quickly in frantic lines. Oddly enough -- and perhaps our teacher already suspected this -- these last scribbles turned out to be better than the earlier ones. In the end, this was my favourite. Meet Sebastian.
